Although never a popular posting, border duty sometimes has its compensations. The Boulder Arch Tower, on the frontier with the Patrin Republic is one of the few posts that the armed forces of Marchess rarely have difficulty filling. Indeed, being set in a region of exceptional natural beauty that hasn't seen conflict in five generations, abundant game and regular trade caravans, this is the one guard outpost that actually has a waiting list.

I think this is a really great picture, except for the grassy stone texture used on the rocks. Dunno, i think the green is to bright and the contrast between rock and grass is too high aswell. It looks too much like a painted texture.

The rest is just perfect, i really like the trees and the mountains in the distance.

So noted.
Actually that texture was the hardest thing to do - I ended up using loads of phot references from Fjordland here in Aotearoa. It's a VERY green and lush part of the world - but I actually turned the green down a bit from an exact match. I'll do some more work on it - you'll see it in another piece soon enough,

Oh ok...

I think those mixed textures are very hard to do anyway, i always try using alpha shaders in that case, but never got the grass to look decent. *sticks to indoor scenes* ;)

Nice work. I like the way the man made structure is blended into it's surroundings, and the description is very imaginative too.

I thank you - it was one of the most technically difficult pieces I've done.
